Are you working in a Local Authority role?

This conference is designed for:

✅ Local Authority councillors
✅ Licensing and Enforcement Officers
✅ Options and Prevention Officers
✅ Team Leader, Manager or Head of Service
✅ Legal team members

The Renters Rights Bill, when passed, will bring about the most significant changes in landlord and tenant law for 35 years including tenancy reform and changes to possession grounds.

An important part of the bill is a significant increase in Local Authority enforcement powers and in the penalties that can be imposed. Along with a legal duty to enforce the landlord legislation in your area.

Is YOUR Local Authority ready for the challenge?

This Conference will prepare you for success.

About our Conferences

Tessa Shepperson has been running conferences since 2013. This is the first Conference dedicated solely to Local Authorities.

Delegates will get online access to the talks on the day plus access to the recordings for 3 months after the event.

Below are some comments about Tessa's previous online conference events:

“As we live in North Devon this was an ideal way for us both to enjoy a conference albeit a virtual one without the need for major arrangements here at home. Very good value, a real no brainer.
Has been so enjoyable, relaxing, and, of course, such good value, and has been useful to visit parts later on.“

Ian, Landlord

“I was dubious about taking part in a virtual conference beforehand but I really enjoyed it and found I concentrated much better in the comfort of my own home.
The content and subject matter were spot on for our business and all the speakers were very good.”

Anna, Property Manager

Frequently asked questions:

Q: Can I cancel and get a refund if I am unable to attend?

A: Note that we are happy to transfer your booking to a colleague. But, yes, you can cancel at any time up to 12.00 noon on the first day of the conference and get a full refund. All requests for cancellation should be made via our Green Button support service. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Q: If my computer cannot access the event, can I get a refund?

A: It is unlikely that you will have problems, as we will be using standard browser-based software which works well - provided you are using Firefox or Chrome for your internet browser. Mac users should note that the system does not work with Safari (but it is easy to install Chrome or Firefox on a Mac - you may already be using them). However, if you are unable to view the event, we will give a full refund provided you let us know before 12.00 noon on the day of the conference.

Q: If I can't watch all the talks on the day, can I watch them later?

A: Yes, the conference will be recorded and the recordings will be available for three months for delegates to watch. If you need more time, we will usually extend this at our discretion.

Q: I want to use two coupons, but the system won't let me

A: I am afraid you can only use one coupon - so if you have two, you will need to decide which one to use. Contact us via the Green Button messenger service if you need further help.

Q: Can I pay by cash or cheque?

A: No, payments must be made online via our system (where you can pay by card or PayPal) or if you are paying on an invoice, payment must be made by BACS.

Q: I am a Landlord Law member, is this training included in my membership?

A: No, this training is specifically designed for Local Authorities and is not suitable for landlords or letting agents.

Q: Will I be able to ask questions?

A: Yes, most speakers will allow some questions (subject to time), plus there is an hour-long Q&A session at the end of the day. However, note that we are not accepting questions in advance. All questions should be put on the day.

Q: Does the conference cover commercial lettings or social housing?

A: No, the Renters Rights Bill, which the conference is about, just deals with residential lettings. This conference does not cover any of the social housing issues set out in the bill.

Q: Is there CPD?

A: Yes, provided our system shows you have attended all sessions. If you qualify, you will be emailed a CPD certificate after the event. This event carries 5 hours CPD. Tessa's CPD is accepted by most accreditation bodies.

Q: How do I contact you via the Landlord Law Green Button Messenger Service?

A: View our help page. You will see the green button bottom right on that page. It is not visible on this page as this page is hosted outside the Landlord Law website.
